The turning point for him in his career when he started Environ and researching was when he lost two patients to skin cancer before the age of 23. He became fascinated with researching what are skin needs to be the healthiest it can be – how to avoid skin diseases, aging, and abnormalities.

Vitamin A is the only clinically proven ingredient to normalize the function of the skin because it has the ability to influence the genes of our skin cells and ultimately regulate cell DNA.
He started prescribing retinoic acid (tretinoin) but what he quickly realized is not everyone can tolerate this type of vitamin a. Retinoic acid was causing adverse reactions when exposed to sunlight. He realized clients could not apply this type as frequently as we needed because of the side effects it caused.
We are all deficient in vitamin A as sun exposure depletes are natural vitamin A levels. Therefore we need to replenish it daily, ideally twice a day.
His claim to fame was figuring out how can we deliver vitamin A to our skin on a frequent basis where our skin can become compliant. He discovered lipid, ester-based forms of Vitamin A. Gentle, very effective, still quite active, results driven, but our skin is compliant and generally more accepted through our skin.
He created the first made to order vitamin A skincare product in 1991.
He was also the first to launch the cosmetic roller to the world in 1991.
